    Ambassador of Israel, H.E. Mr. Hagay Moshe Behar laid wreath at the Martyr’s Mausoleum on “Martyrs’ Day” in Yangon.

    To pay tribute to the fallen heroes of the unforgettable 19th July, the ambassador of Israel, Mr. Hagay Moshe Behar laid wreath at the Martyr’s Mausoleum on July 19th 2013.
     
    The Independence leader General Aung San and six members of his cabinet were assassinated on this day in 1947. It was the greatest loss for the country and the Martyrs’ day ceremony was held since.
     
    This year, Vice President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, Dr Sai Mauk Kham and Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, chairperson of the National League for Democracy, paid tribute to General Aung San and the other 19th July Martyrs at the Martyr’s Mausoleum.Together with them are the families of the heroes, Senior Military officers, Deputy Speakers and MPs of Pyithu Hluttaw and Amyotha Hlutaw, Union Ministers for Culture, Sports, Hotel and Tourism and Chief Minister of Yangon Region, Regional Ministers ,representatives from political parties , Non Governmental Organizations, Diplomats from Embassies and the European Union.
     
    In many cities all over Myanmar, a number of people stood in one minute silent tribute to the fallen heroes at the same time when they were assassinated at 10:37 in 1947 and the silent tribute was accompanied by sounding siren wailing and honks to commemorate the 66th Martyrs Day.
