    The ambassador of Israel in Myanmar, H.E. Mr. Hagay Moshe Behar participated in the First Myanmar Librarian Conference in March 2014 at the University of Nursing in Yangon.

    The conference was jointly organized by the Ministry of Information, Myanmar Libraries Foundation and Myanmar Library Association and attended by Union Minister for Information U Aung Kyi , Deputy Speaker of Pyithu Hluttaw, Yangon Region Minister for Finance, Ambassador of Royal Thai Embassy , High Officials from Myanmar Library Foundation, and invited librarians from Public libraries all over Myanmar.
    In his presentation, the ambassador of Israel shared the useful information and knowledge to contribute to the development of public libraries in Myanmar with the attendees on “ The Role of Public Libraries  in Israel “ and then donated “The Soul Bird “translation books,  from well known children book written by Israeli writer Michal Snunit, which have been translated into Myanmar version, as well as in 5 other ethnic languages (Shan, Mon, Kayin, Kachin and Chin). As part of the Israeli Embassy Education Project to promote the reading habits among young children in Myanmar, more than 500 books have been donated to the Myanmar Library Foundation as well as invited librarians all over Myanmar. Vice Chairman of Myanmar Library Foundation U Nyunt Swe also accepted the books on behalf of the foundation.
