In Myanmar, music therapy is still in its primary stages. To promote and encourage this important therapeutic field, a group of three Israeli music therapists, headed by Ms. Tsvia Horesh held a second session of training between the 16.9-3.10.2013 inYangon, Myanmar . The trainees were special education teachers from the Eden Center for Disabled Children (ECDC) and the Montessori school in Yangon.

This training aimed to extend the knowledge of 30 teachers (15 that already participated in the first course held in 2012, and an additional 15 new teachers) and encourage them to continue developing their skills by working under the direct guidance of professionals.

Music therapy is a broad, flexible discipline by which music is used as a creative and non-verbal therapeutic tool. Through this the difficulties of patients can be addressed.  It is used in hospitals, special schools, old people’s homes, hospices and many more.

This important activity could not have taken place without the support and sponsorship of Music as Therapy International (London), the Montessori School, a special event organized for private donors in Israel for this purpose and the voluntary contribution of Ms. Horesh, Ms. Shirley Zamir-Albaz and Miss. Dana Yaakobson.
