    Israeli embassies abroad provide Israeli citizens and/or Israeli residents staying overseas with certain services required by the provisions of the Population Registration Law.
    You can apply to our consular to have your information updated or to receive documentation regarding your existing status held by the ministry (including birth certificates, death certificates, citizenship, or a record of entries and exits from Israel). By law, Israeli citizens must report any change in their marital status or the birth of a new child within 30 days of the event.
    Following the submission of an application, certificates will be processed by Israel (this takes between four and eight weeks). Inquiries regarding the progress of your application to our consular section should only be made four weeks after applying

    This is section outlines the application process to receive one of the following certificate only:
    • A Registration extract
    • An existing Birth Certificate
    • An existing Death Certificate
    • A current record of entries and exits from Israel.
     
    NB. This application is only for those who wish to apply for a pre-existing certificate. For example, if you need proof of your birth certificate, marriage certificate or a family members death certificate. This application is NOT for those seeking to declare a change in status such as the birth of a child, a marriage, divorce etc.
     
    To Apply
    1. Provide the following documentation:

    The service is free of charge unless an apostille is required.
     
    2. Pay for apostille (If required): 
      a) $12(NZD)
      b) The fee can be deposited via direct or online banking to:
        Account Name: Embassy of Israel
        Bank: ANZ

        In the “Particulars” field: please write your full name.
        In the “References” field: please write the word “Consular”. 
      NB: If using online banking, please include receipt number and payment details with your application.
     
    3. Provide the consular with the correct documentation by way of a) by post or alternatively b) deliver in person.

        ii)You must make an appointment with the consular section by:

    iii) Follow security procedure:
        -Please bring photo ID.
        -Every visitor and his belongings will be required to undergo a security check.
         -For security purposes, no personal objects will be allowed into the embassy, including handbags, mobile phones and electronic devices.
        -Do not bring large handbags or suitcases to the embassy.
        -Do not bring food and/or beverage bottles or containers.
        -The mission’s security directives apply to people in the consular waiting room. 
        -The instructions of the security staff must be obeyed at all times.
     
    4. Provide courier bag for certificates return
          If you have applied for your certificates by post OR if you cannot return to the Embassy in person to collect your certificates you must include an additional courier bag with the rest of your documentation (so that the consular can return your certificate to you via mail). The additional courier bag can either be sent with the rest of your documentation by post or brought to the embassy in person.
    The courier bag must fit the following requirements:
    a) It must be an unsealed prepaid New Zealand post courier bag, complete with track and trace.
    b) The courier bag must have your name and postal address filled out on the front (ready for the consular to return it to you).
    c) If you live at a rural address please insure you purchase a rural delivery prepaid ticket.
    NB. You are responsible for the address to be clearly printed on the bag. The Embassy will not take any responsibility for incorrectly addressed or ineligible printing on the bag. Be sure to take note of the tracking number. Delays in the sending of your documents may occur if any of the above is incorrect.
          You can not send cash or cheque by mail - You must pay by direct bank deposit.

     Certificate Attesting to Israeli Citizenship or Non-Citizenship

    Under Section 15 of the Citizenship Law, 5712 -1952 (Consolidated Version), an Israeli citizen is entitled to receive a certificate from the Minister of the Interior attesting to his Israeli citizenship. The certificate can be obtained in Hebrew and English, as well as the date on which citizenship was conferred. Those interested in the latter must make a special note of this. Sometimes local authorities will require certification of Israel citizenship and in these cases a valid Israeli passport alone will not suffice. The certificate is usually takes within eight to twelve weeks to arrive.
    To Apply

    1. Provide the following documentation:

      • A photocopy of the identity card and of the passport of the applicant.

    Important: All fields must be filled out on the form. A line must be drawn through fields that are not relevant in order to show that they are not relevant and that is why they were not filled in.

    Notification of Change in Marital Status

     Any change in Marital Status requires that you visit the consular in person and provide the correct documentation:
    i) You must visit during our Consular Services hours:
    Monday to Friday – From 09:30am to 12:30pm
    ii)You must make an appointment with the consular section by:

    iii) Follow security procedure:

    Notification of marriage:
    An Israeli citizen who was married abroad must visit the Embassy in person.
    Note: If both partners are Israeli citizens both must visit the Embassy. However, if only one partner is Israeli then only that partner     
       must visit the Embassy.
    Fill out and bring (unsigned) the following forms:
    1. Notification form to notify the Population Registry of his new marital status on the change in status (click here to download the form Notification of Change in Marital Status)
    2. “Registration for an Israeli Citizen staying abroad” – click here to download
    3. Verified original marriage certificate.
    4. If the spouse is not Israeli, a photocopy of the photo page of the spouse’s passport must be attached.
     
    The service is provided free of charge.
     
    Notification of divorce:
    An Israeli citizen who was divorced abroad must visit the Embassy in person.
    Note: If both partners are Israeli citizens both must visit the Embassy. However, if only one partner is Israeli then only that   partner  
       must visit the Embassy.
    Fill out and bring (unsigned) the following forms:
    1. Notification form to notify the Population Registry of his new marital status on the change in status (click here to download the form Notification of Change in Marital Status)
    2. “Registration for an Israeli Citizen staying abroad” – click here to download
    3. Verified original divorce certificate.
              a. Divorce certificate or court order regarding the divorce.
              b. If the divorce was done through Rabinical court out of Israel- The court order must be verified through the Israeli   
            Rabinical court.
    4. If the spouse is not Israeli, a photocopy of the photo page of the spouse’s passport must be attached.
     
    The service is provided free of charge.
     
    Notification of selection of name:
    An Israeli citizen who was married or divorce, and wishes to choose a new last name must visit the Embassy in person, where he/she will fill out the notification of selection of name (click here to download the form Notification of Selection of Name), along with the verified and original marriage or divorce certificate.
     
    Each partner can inform carry a family name from his marriage or dovorce under these alternatives:
        1. To carry his name and return to carry any name and had been without restriction in terms of repeat selections name.
        2. Select the current name of his / her spouse.
        3. Add the family name his / her spouse for the current family.
        4. Choose a common choice of a new name after marriage.
        5. Add a new name current names of both spouses.
     
    The service is provided free of charge.
     
    Notification of death:
    An immediate family member of an Israeli citizen who died must visit the Embassy in person.

    3. Verified original death certificate.
    The service is provided free of charge.

    Symbol Purple.png Registering a child who was born abroad to Israeli citizens
    In order to register a child who was born abroad to Israeli citizens, one of the Israeli parents and the child must appear in person before the diplomatic / consular representative at the embassy and implement the registration process.
    NB: In the event that the mother is not an Israeli citizen, and the parents of the child are not married or the child was born less than 10 months after their marriage, the Israeli father must contact the embassy for further instruction before appearing to register the child.
     
    Provide the consular with the correct documentation in person.

    In order to register, please bring in the following:
    1. Fill out and signing the form "Notification of the Birth of an Israeli Citizen Abroad" (click here to download the form Notification of the Birth of an Israeli Citizen Abroad)
    2. The original birth certificate, verified with an apostille stamp
    3. Birth approval from the hospital.
    4. Photocopies of the parents' passports.
    5. “Registration for an Israeli Citizen staying abroad” – click here to download
    6. If the parents are married and there is no record to that effect in the Population Registry of the State of Israel, their verified marriage certificate must be presented (click here to download the form Notification of Change in Marital Status).
     
    In order to have a passport issued to a minor who was just registered bring the following:
    In order to issue a passport for a minor, one of the Israeli parents must appear in person with the child before the diplomatic / consular representative at the embassy.
    The process of issuing a passport for a minor is as follows:
      1. Fill out an application for a passport (click here to download the Application for a New Passport)
      2. Provide two passport pictures
      3. Pay toll charges:
    a) $49 NZ for a minor passport.
    b)The fee can be deposited via direct or online banking to:

    An Israeli citizen who wishes to change his first or last name must appear in person before the diplomatic / consular representative at the embassy and implement the registration process.
    The embassy will send the form to the Ministry of the Interior in Israel. When the change of name is approved, the passport will be updated accordingly (this takes between eight and twelve weeks).
    When a citizen who has changed his name returns to Israel, he must go to the Ministry of the Interior to have the change made in his identity card.
     
    Provide the consular with the correct documentation in person.
