Like Dreamers: The Story of the Israeli Paratroopers Who Reunited Jerusalem and Divided a Nation

An internationally respected commentator on Israeli and Middle Eastern affairs and a master storyteller, Yossi Klein Halevi interweaves the diverse stories of a group of 1967 paratroopers who reunited Jerusalem. Giving us an in-depth look at these men and their conflicting beliefs, he masterfully traces the history of Israel and the divergent ideologies shaping it from the Six-Day War to the present.

Yossi Klein Halevi is an American-born journalist who has lived in Jerusalem since 1982. He is a contributing editor to the New Republic and a senior fellow at the Shalom Hartman Institute in Jerusalem. His work appears often in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and Foreign Affairs. He is a frequent commentator on Israeli affairs for NPR, The BBC and other international news organizations. He is the author of At the Entrance to the Garden of Eden: A Jew’s Search for God with Christians and Muslims in the Holy Land and Memoirs of a Jewish Extremist.
