    ​Major General Menahem Haver was appointed to the position of Attaché & Liaison Officer to the United States and Canada in October 2013.  In this capacity, MG Haver will be working to strengthen international cooperation with the United States and Canada.

    MG Haver’s most recent positions were Deputy Commander of the "Hof" (coastline) Northern District, Commander of the Northern Galilee District, Commander of the Judea and Samaria Sub-district, Commander of the Central Unit in the North District, Commander of the Intelligence and Detective Unit in the Northern District, and Commander of the Afula Police Station.

    MG Haver joined the Israel Defense Forces in 1976 and served in the Elite Paratrooper Brigade. In 1979, MG Haver joined the Israeli Police as an undercover police officer, working against drug trafficking, and in 1984 he completed an Officers Training Course.
    Since 1984 he served in a variety of command positions as an intelligence officer, head of patrol unit, and the head officer in a special police force in southern Lebanon. 
    During his service, he participated in courses on intelligence, investigations, training of senior officers, command and staff courses and more.

    Between 1990 and 1995 MG Haver served as head of a special police force unit that was stationed in southern Lebanon, there he dealt with drug dealers and drug importers. 
    From 1995 through 2001 MG Haver served in a special task force and as head of the intelligence unit at the Central Northern Police district.

    As the commander of the Afula Police Station, between 2001 and 2003, he dealt with twelve suicide attacks on civilians in the Afula area.

    From 2003 to 2007 he was commander of the Central Northern Police District, combating organized crime, money laundering and drug trafficking on the borders with Syria, Lebanon and Jordan.

    Between 2007 and 2008, MG Haver commanded the Judea and Samaria Sub-district, and from 2008 to 2011 he commanded the Northern Galilee District. Under his command there were ten police stations, which is the biggest sub-district in Israel and shares borders with Lebanon, Syria and Jordan. His last position before coming to the U.S. was Deputy Commander of the "Hof" (coastline) Northern District.

    MG Haver is married to Anat, and has three grown children.
    He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from the University of Haifa, and a Master’s Degree in Human Resource Management from the University of Haifa.
