Deputy Consul General of Israel in Toronto
Irit Stopper was born in Israel in 1951. She has served in a number of positions in Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 1972. Her most recent posts include: Minister Counselor in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Multilateral Affairs Directorate (2011-2013); Minister Counselor in the Jewish Communities Department of the World Jewish and Religious Affairs Bureau (2009-2011); Coordinator for the Global Conference on Anti-Semitism, World Jewish and Religious Affairs Bureau (2009); and Minister Counselor in the Media and Public Affairs Division (2008-2009).
Her international postings include: Consul for Consular Affairs at the Consulate General of Israel in New York (2004-2008); and Administrative Officer of Israel’s Permanent Mission to the UN in Geneva (1994-1997).
Mrs. Stopper served in the Israel Defense Forces from 1968-1970. She is married to Aharon Stopper, and they have three adult children.
