    Hadas Wittenberg Silberstein has served as the Deputy Consul General of Israel in Toronto since October 2010. The post covers Ontario and the Western Provinces of Canada.
    Previously, she held two overseas positions, as Deputy Head of Mission in Belgrade, Serbia (2004-2007) and Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Israel in San Jose, Costa Rica. (2008-2010)
    Ms Wittenberg Silberstein’s career with the Israel Foreign Service began in 2003. During her service at the headquarters of Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Jerusalem, she held posts in the Division of Asia and the Pacific, the Department of Public Affairs and the Department of Central Europe.
     
    Prior to her diplomatic career, she worked as a social worker in a visitation center for families in Jerusalem. Earlier, she was employed as a research assistant at the Hebrew University.
    Ms Wittenberg Silberstein graduated with Honors from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. She holds a Master’s degree in Social Work from the Paul Baerwald School of Social Work and Social Welfare, Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
     
    She served in the Israel Defense Forces for three years (1993-1996) as a Military Medic and later as an Officer in the Golan Heights.
    Ms Wittenberg Silberstein is married to Assaf Silberstein and they have three children. She speaks Hebrew, English and Spanish.
