Israel’s Competitive Edge – 1st in R&D Investments
Israel invests 4.5% of its GDP in R&D, which is the highest ratio of any country in the world, according to the International Institute for Management Development (IMD) World Competitiveness Yearbook 2008. The business climate in Israel is efficient and highly geared towards globalization, making it a preferred choice of leading global players. After the United States, Israel has the largest number of companies listed on the NASDAQ index compared to any other country in the world.
The Commercial Department of the Embassy of Israel focuses on a wide range of activities and services aimed at the promotion of trade and joint ventures between Israel and Singapore.
Its main activities include:
- Assisting the business community in Singapore through the offering of contacts and relevant information about Israel. The Department is fully computerized and has direct access to the Israel Export Institute and other business directories.
- Assisting the Israeli business community by providing business information and contacts through an extensive database of businesses in Singapore from various sectors of the economy.
- Encouraging business people from Singapore to attend delegations, trade fairs, exhibitions and other events taking place in Israel through direct mailing, press releases and personal contacts.
- Promoting Israeli business and trade by contacting and meeting businesspeople and business organizations from Singapore and informing them of commercial opportunities in Israel.
