As part of an on-going cooperation, Israel’s agency for international development cooperation (MASHAV), and South Africa’s Small Enterprise D
evelopment Agency (SEDA) over the past year have helped to develop an agricultural project usable for produce farming on a privately owned farm outside of Johannesburg. The greenhouse project, which developed a 0.4 hectare greenhouse and have filled it with blooming tomatoes is one example of the know- how capabilities which MASHAV has shared with South African farmers.

Today, Tuesday, 11 December 2012 Deputy Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for African Affairs, Amb. Avi Granot, joined Ambassador Dov Segev Steinberg and the Embassy Agricultural Attache Isaac Isaac in visiting one of the many agricultural sites to see a taste of the incredible Mashav activities taking place here in South Africa.

After the initial success of the greenhouse, four tunnels are planned to be planted in the near future. With the generous support of SEDA and the priceless capacity building of MASHAV, this private farm will now be a home to a completely functioning produce farm.
