Shavuot marks the day God gave the Torah to the entire nation of Israel assembled at Mount Sinai .
Shavuot is also connected to the season of the grain harvest in Israel. Also, the first fruits from the seven species for which the Land of Israel is praised were brought to the Temple on this holiday - wheat, barley, grapes, figs, pomegranates, olives, and dates.

Jews in Israel and in Diaspora eat dailry products.
