Staff Members from Central and North Florida Federal District Offices, Jewish Federations and Israel Advocacy Organizations gathered together to learn more about issues in the Middle East and how Florida and Israel can collaborate to strengthen our support for Israel. Topics included the Changing Middle East, the Iranian nuclear threat, Florida Israel collaboration and coalition building towards a stronger Israel.
Ifat Reshef, Minister Counselor for Middle Eastern Affairs, Embassy of Israel provided a Middle East update. Her speech focused on the recent events in Egypt and Syria.
David Ibsen, the Executive Director from United Against Nuclear Iran provided an analysis on the Iranian Nuclear Threat and how it effects the United States and Florida.
Frank Dibello, the President and CEO of Space Florida, spoke about Israel and Florida Collaboration, the recent MOU agreement signed between Israel and Florida, past events where and his vision for future collaboration. Frank DiBello was the keynote speaker for the event.
The event closed with a panel discussion on coalition building. Annette Taddeo-Goldstein, the Vice-Chair for the Florida Democratic Party, Pastor Scott Thomas, and Rafael Yaniz, a University of Miami Law School student spoke about their experiences with mobilizing the community and how they can bring their experiences to build a strong coalition to support Israel.
