Congressman Ron DeSantis – District 6
DeSantis Statement on Murder of Israeli Teenagers
St. Augustine, FL – Today, the Israeli military announced that the three Israeli teenagers – Eyal Yifrach, Gilad Shaar, Naftali Frenkel – who were kidnapped June 12 have been found murdered. Rep. Ron DeSantis (FL-06), author of the Palestinian Accountability Act and a member of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, issued the following statement:
"The murder of three Israeli teenagers by Hamas terrorists is an outrage.  While it should have been obvious from the start that any 'unity' government that includes Hamas would not be interested in peace with Israel, the Obama administration has continued to send money to the Palestinian Authority even though current law prohibits funds from going to a Hamas-influenced government.  Congress must immediately move to cut off funds to the Fatah-Hamas unity government.  American taxpayers cannot subsidize a government that is adverse to our interests and whose behavior is contrary to our values."

Congressman Gus Bilirakis – District 12
Bilirakis Mourns the Latest News from Israel
Washington, D.C. – Representative Gus Bilirakis issued the following statement about the deaths of three teenagers in Israel at the hands of terrorists:
“I am saddened by the news from Israel that Eyal Yifrah, 19, Gilad Shaar, 16, and Naftali Fraenkel, 16, have been found murdered near the city of Hebron.  The horrific targeting of civilians – particularly children – make terrorists organizations like Hamas a continued threat to peace and stability in the Middle East. These actions stand as a reminder that affiliation with this type of organization will only weaken the prospects for a settlement in Israel. No parent should have to undergo the suffering that the parents of these teenagers endured. I extend my deepest condolences to them and pray that they may find peace.”

Deutch, Ros-Lehtinen Meet with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu
Express Condolences for the Loss of Eyal, Naftali and Gilad, And Offer Unequivocal Support for Israel
    July 3, 2014

U.S. Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL), Chairman of the Middle East and North Africa Subcommittee, and Rep. Ted Deutch (D-FL), Ranking Member of the Middle East and North Africa Subcommittee, issued the following statement following their meeting with Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu. Joint statement by Reps. Ros-Lehtinen and Deutch:

“These last few days have been a trying and difficult time for the people of Israel after the bodies of three of their sons were found. As an entire nation mourned, we mourned with it. We conveyed our deepest sympathies to Prime Minister Netanyahu and reaffirmed to our closest ally, the democratic Jewish State of Israel, that the United States stands firmly with it as it struggles to cope with the tragic loss of Eyal, Naftali and Gilad and as it seeks to bring the perpetrators to justice.

“We also discussed with PM Netanyahu the threats that Israel faces as the stability of the region continues to deteriorate. The growing threat of extremism in Syria and Iraq, and the threat posed by Iran’s nuclear weapons program, could have severe repercussions throughout the region, and these toxic obstacles put both Israel and U.S. national security interests at risk. We vowed to continue our unwavering support for the people of Israel and their safety and security, and will do whatever we can to ensure Israel maintains her qualitative military edge so that she can defend herself from all threats.”

Ted Deutch (D-FL), Ranking Member of the Middle East and North Africa Subcommittee, issued this statement following the news that the bodies of Gilad Shaar, Naftali Frankel and Eyal Yifrach – the three Israeli teens abducted on June 12, 2014 while returning home from school – were found earlier today near Hebron. Joint Statement: “No words can adequately express the sorrow and sadness we feel for the families of Gilad, Naftali and Eyal, the people of Israel and the entire Jewish community worldwide. This is a day of tragedy and mourning; the world has lost three beloved sons, friends, and beautiful souls who were taken from us too early, but will forever live on in our hearts and minds. We will continue to support the Government of Israel in its efforts to bring the perpetrators to justice, and we offer the people of Israel our deepest and most heartfelt condolences as we grieve with them. If it is determined that Hamas is behind this horrific tragedy, Abu Mazen must immediately break up the unity agreement between Fatah and Hamas, a U.S. designated foreign terrorist organization.”

Ileana Ros-Lehtinen and I stood with U.S. Ambassador Dan Shapiro and tens of thousands of Israelis at this afternoon's funeral. We offer condolences, comfort and strength to the families who suffered this unspeakable tragedy and to the nation of Israel who mourns with them.

    ·         It was so difficult to receive tonight's horrific news, especially while in Jerusalem, surrounded by the boys' extended family of Israel. I'm traveling with Rep. Illeana Ros Lehtinen, Chairman of the Middle East Subcommittee, and we thought it was important to issue a statement together. Words can't express our sorrow for the loss of Eyal, Gilad and Naftali.

Congresswoman Frederica S. Wilson Offers Condolences to the Families of the Three Israeli Boys, the People of Israel and the Entire Jewish Community
MIAMI – Congresswoman Frederica Wilson (FL-24) issued this statement following the news that the bodies of the three Israeli teenagers - who were abducted on June 12, 2014 while returning home from school - were found today near Hebron.
“Just last night, I spoke at the Jewish Federation of Broward County Solidarity Rally in support of the ‘Bring Back Our Boys’ campaign, started to bring awareness to the kidnapping of the three boys.
“Today, I have no words to express my sadness and outrage upon hearing the news of Eyal Yifrach, Gilad Shaar, and Naftali Frenkel, three innocent young men traveling home from school to be with their families to celebrate Shabbat. This is a day of mourning and I offer my deepest condolences to their families, the people of Israel, and the entire Jewish community.
“When our children are targeted by terrorists, the entire world suffers. I continue to condemn the actions of those who perpetrated this crime and I offer my strong support to the Government of Israel in its efforts to bring those responsible to justice, said Congresswoman Wilson.”
The “Bring Back Our Boys” social media campaign was modeled after the “Bring Back Our Girls” movement, which was started in April in Nigeria to bring awareness to the kidnapping of nearly 300 Nigerian school girls. Both campaigns galvanized people around the world and sparked outrage over the abductions.
Congresswoman Wilson recently launched a twitter storm to further the cause of the “Bring Back Our Girls” movement, and to ensure that the girls are not forgotten, by asking the international community to tweet #bringbackourgirls daily.

Congressman Garcia Mourns the Loss of Israeli Teens
Congressman Joe Garcia issued the following statement following reports that the bodies of Gilad Shaar, Naftali Frankel, and Eyal Yifrach were found earlier today near the West Bank city of Hebron.  The three Israeli teenagers were abducted on June 12, 2014 while returning home from school.
My thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of Gilad Shaar, Naftali Frenkel, and Eyal Yifrach during this unimaginably difficult time.  I join with the people of Israel as they grieve the loss of their young countrymen.
As the search for those responsible continues, it is my hope that the perpetrators are quickly found and brought to justice.  The possibility that Hamas may have been involved continues to shed light on the serious concerns over their role in the new Palestinian government and how it impacts the prospects of lasting peace and security in the region.

    Senator Marco Rubio
Rubio Comments On The Brutal Killing Of Three Teenagers In Israel
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) today released the following statement regarding the brutal killing of three teenagers in Israel:
“My family’s thoughts and prayers are with the people of Israel and especially the families of Naftali Fraenkel, Gilad Shaar and Eyal Yifrach during this difficult time.
“The brutal killing of three innocent teenagers in Israel should serve as a reminder of what Hamas truly represents. This is more evidence that Hamas should not be allowed to participate in any Palestinian government or elections unless they renounce terrorism and accept Israel’s right to exist.
“Until then, I hope the administration will listen to the voices in Congress and in the Israeli government calling for a suspension of assistance to the power-sharing Palestinian government. That is the least we can do to honor the lives of Naftali, Gilad and Eyal.”
