Members of the Chamber, Executives from the leading companies of the Israeli market,
diplomats and government officials from Israel and the U.S., gathered together on Tuesday, June 11, 2013, for the Chamber Gala Dinner at the Hilton Hotel in Tel Aviv. The highlight of the night was awarding companies that significantly advanced trade relations between the countries and a special lifetime achievement award to Industrialist Stef Wertheimer who, for decades, has been investing his energy and insight in improving Israeli society, by advancing industry, containing diverse societies in the job market and increasing U.S. investments in Israel.
We opened the evening with greetings by the Chairperson of the Chamber, Ofra Strauss;
U.S. Ambassador to Israel, Hon. Dan Shapiro; an insightful and humorous speech by
Minister of the Economy Naftali Bennet and a personal letter, by Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu, written especially for the event. Warren Buffett, Chairman of Berkshire Hathaway, sent a moving and complimentary greeting to Stef Wertheimer: "You could not have made a better selection… in 2006… we did not send a team of people to do due diligence in Israel. We looked at the man, we looked at the company, we looked at the record, we looked at Israel. And we made the largest investment by far that we have ever made outside the U.S.
