Issuing and Extending Travel Documents

    All Israeli citizens staying abroad, both minors and adults, must carry a valid Israeli travel document with them at all times. The travel documents issued by the State of Israel to its citizens (passports and laissez passer) are the property of the State and should be carefully safeguarded.
     
    Note that Israeli citizens are required by law always to enter and exit Israel with an Israeli travel document.
     
    According to the Population Registry Law, the issue or extension of travel documents is contingent upon the personal status (married, divorced, widowed, etc.) being up-to-date. please refer to the Personal Status Update section in our website. In the absence of such updated details, a travel document will be issued for one year only.​

  • Do I need a New Passport / Travel Document or only an Extension?

    An Israeli passport issued to an adult is valid for 10 years, and for 5 years for a minor.
     
    For a passport that issued at the time you were adult - if 10 years have passed since the passport was issued, please contact the mission to obtain a new passport. If less than 10 years have elapsed since the passport was issued, it can be extended up to the full 10 years. 
     
    For a passport that issued at the time you were minor- if 5 years have passed since the passport was issued, please contact the mission to obtain a new passport. If less than 5 years have elapsed since the passport was issued, it can be extended up to the full 5 years.
     
    A Travel Document (in lieu of a national passport) issued to an adult and for a minor is valid for 5 years.
     
    If 5 years have passed since the travel document was issued, please contact the mission to obtain a new travel document. If less than 5 years have elapsed since the travel document was issued, it can be extended up to the full 5 years.​

  • Extending a Passport / Travel Document

    Adults:
     
    To extend the validity of a Passport / Travel Document, please fill out the relevant form, follow the instruction and send it to the Consular Department at the consulate in Miami (click here to download Form #2 - Application to Extend a Passport/Travel Document).
     
    Minors:
     
    A minor’s passport can be extended for five years, up to the age of 17. After his military status is determined, the minor's passport can be extended pursuant to approval of the IDF authorities (for additional details, please refer to the IDF relating matters section in our website).

  • Renewing an Expired Passport

    Adults:

    To renew a passport, you must bring to the mission (or send by mail) the following:

    - Application for a New Passport, filled out and signed (click here to download Form #1 -Application for a New Passport)

    - Two passport pictures

    - The current passport

    - 74$ passport fee + 11$ return shipment fee = 85$ (You can combine several requests for one return shipping fee) by a money order payable to the "Consulate General of Israel" or a credit card form can be download here. (Visa or MasterCard only)

    Minors:

    Please contact us to obtain information on the conditions for issuing travel documents to a minor.

  • Renewing an Expired Travel Document (in lieu of a national passport)

    Adults:

    To renew a Travel Document, you must bring to the mission (or send by mail) the following:

    - Application for a New Travel Document, filled out and signed (click here to download Form #1 - Application for a New Passport)

    - Two passport pictures

    - The current travel document

    - 38$ travel document fee + 11$ return shipment fee = 49$ (You can combine several requests for one return shipping fee) by a money order payable to the "Consulate General of Israel" or a credit card form can be download here. (Visa or MasterCard only)

    Minors:

  • Renewing the travel document in the event of loss / theft / destruction

    Adults:
     
    In the event of the loss / theft / destruction of a travel document, you must visit the mission in order to obtain a replacement. Please be sure to bring the following:

    - Two passport pictures

    - A picture ID (identity card or Israeli driver's license)

    - A completed declaration form about the loss / theft / destruction of a passport or laissez passer (click here to download Form #4 - Declaration of the Loss / Theft / Destruction of a Passport or Travel Document). The form must be signed before the diplomatic / consular representative.

    - An application for a new Travel Document, filled out and signed (click here to download Form #1 - Application for a New Travel Document).

    - The Israeli passport is the property of the State. The loss / theft / destruction of the passport requires the payment of a higher fee
