Dan Berk recently returned from Israel where he was doing research
for a documentary he is planning to film on the devastating effects
of suicide bombings. He met personally with many victims and their
families as well as with rescue workers, hospital personnel, therapists,
and assistance groups.
Dan began his career by being the first to obtain the American distribution
rights to a Mainland Chinese feature motion picture produced after
the 1949 Revolution. To everyone's surprise, "The Rickshaw Boy" played
in American theaters for over a year. Dan made films for Orion Pictures,
HBO, and Lion's Gate Films, serving in various capacities among them,
producer, director, and writer. In addition he has been a studio executive.
During his career he has worked closely with many stars, including
John Travolta, Howie Mandel, and Jonathan Silverman.
Presently Dan has a number of his scripts under option that are being
packaged for production. A licensed attorney in California, he is
a graduate of Brandeis University. He is also a member of Technion-Israel
Institute of Technology's Ambassador program.
