Archeology students from all over the world come to Israel to unearth its rich history.

N early 30 institutions fall under the category of "vocational colleges," supplying professional training in specific fields of study ranging from electronics and bio-technology to optometry and insurance. Several teacher's colleges work on behalf of Israel's future in the classroom. These unique schools prepare teachers exclusively for kibbutzim, religious schools, and the Arab sector. Netanya's Wingate Institute trains teachers and professionals in the realm of physical education, athletics, sports medicine, and bio-physics.

In the area of the arts, the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design (est. 1906), located in Jerusalem, offers Bachelor's degrees in fine arts, architecture, and graphic and industrial design. Many of Bezalel's alumni have moved to the forefront of Israel's art and design community. Similarly, students wishing to enter the fashion industry can do so at Ramat Gan's Shenkar Institute of Textile and Fashion. Here, students may study either the technical or design aspects of the business. Independent technological colleges operate in Karmiel, Holon, Tel Aviv, and Jerusalem. Hadassah College of Technology (est. 1970) offers degrees in both the scientific and technical fields. Its curriculum consists of courses in such diverse areas as computer science, industrial design, hotel management and medical technology. Many of HCT's graduates go on to work for prestigious Israeli companies, including Intel and the Hadassah Medical Organization.
