The Open University was
established in 1974
with the goal of making academic studies more accessible to Israel's population. Under the auspices of the Open University, classes are offered at colleges, corporations, and organizations throughout the country. Through methods of individual self-study and group-study, nearly 24,000 students work toward undergraduate and graduate degrees in numerous fields.
The Open University enables soldiers, kibbutz members,
senior citizens, and gifted high school pupils both in and outside of Israel to take advantage of opportunities for self-education. Similarly, members of the working population utilize the Open University's flexibility and convenience to integrate study with
professional obligations.
