The
Hebrew University of
Jerusalem, perhaps the world's most recognized
center for Judaic Studies, was established in 1925. Presently, more than
23,000 students actively pursue scholarship in various fields at the
University's scenic Mt. Scopus campus overlooking Jerusalem's Old City.
Jews, Christians, and Moslems from big cities, small villages, and
kibbutzim (collective farms) learn together to maintain the University's
diversity and unique character.
With several areas of focus, the Hebrew University impacts nearly every
segment of the Israeli population. At the Ein Kerem campus, Hadassah
Hospital serves as a training ground for Israel's physicians and medical
researchers. The School of Agriculture in Rehovot is currently working
with several Arab countries to facilitate economic cooperation and
development in the Middle East, while students and faculty at the Truman
Institute strive to introduce peaceful solutions to political and
historical dilemmas in the region.
