Founded in 1963, Haifa University's Mt. Carmel campus hosts over 12,000 students who
enjoy a curriculum rich in humanities and social sciences. Particular
attention is given to the study of the kibbutz as both a social and
economic entity in acknowledgment of the role that it has maintained in
Israel's fast-paced development. The campus' distinctive Maritime Center
stresses the strategic nature of water in the land of Israel.
Research at Haifa University places a special emphasis on the growing
need for cooperation between the Jewish and Arab populations of Israel
and the Middle East. The University's Arab-Jewish Center provides
opportunities for students to work with neighboring agricultural
settlements, development towns, and Arab villages throughout northern
Israel.
