Ambassador Dan Ashbel
Dan Ashbel was born in Tel Aviv in 1949. He is married to Zehava and they have three sons.
Mr. Ashbel studied geography and English literature at the University of Haifa. At a later stage he completed his Master´s degree in political science with a focus on the Middle East.
After working as a teacher in Kfar Hasidim, he joined Israel´s diplomatic service in 1975. Mr. Ashbel served in various diplomatic positions in Germany (Bonn), Austria (Vienna), United Kingdom (London), United States (Philadelphia) and in Israel. In 2005-2009, he served as Ambassador of Israel to Austria and Slovenia and as Permanent Representative of Israel to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe and the United Nations in Vienna. In 2009-2011, Mr. Ashbel held the post of Diplomatic Advisor to the Knesset.
As of November 2011, Dan Ashbel is serving as Ambassador of Israel to Finland and Estonia (resident in Finland).
