The Myth of Positive Thinking
Author and Harvard divinity scholar Elan Divon will give an inspiring and thought-provoking presentation entitled ‘The Myth of Positive Thinking: Exile, not Intention, as the key to the Promised Land.’ Elan is the son of H.E. Mr Haim Divon, Israeli Ambassador to the Netherlands.
His presentation will debunk conventional wisdom and explain why positive thinking does not guarantee success. What does succeed will surprise you.
Drawing upon ancient wisdom from across the religious divide and weaving between mythology, pop culture and the natural world, the presentation examines the theme of ‘exile’ as the key to personal growth and development. Indeed, the presentation explores exile (i.e. separation, struggle, near death) as the blueprint not only for the transformation of biblical heroes and religious icons, but as a key ingredient in the making of modern day leaders, successful businesses and winning political campaigns.
Elan Divon is an author and educator in the field of personal development and self improvement. From 2005 to 2008 he served as executive director of Peace Camp Canada: an organisation which promotes dialogue and leadership building for embattled Israeli and Palestinian teens. He is author of Reaching Beyond the Religious (2010), a comparison between the Biblical and Hindu traditions.
Elan holds masters degrees from Harvard and Brandeis University. He is currently working on the publication of his second book. For more information about Elan, please visit www.ElanDivon.com.
