The Embassy of Israel sponsored an Israel Travel Brochure Contest for 6th grade students in the D.C. public schools. The winning entry was sent by the students of Mr. Steve Burton's 6th grade class at Birney Elementary School.

The students were honored at a ceremony at the Embassy of Israel. Dr. Paul Ruiz, Chief Academic Affairs Officer of the D.C. Public Schools and Mrs. Aviva Raz-Shechter, Counselor of Public Affairs congratulated the students for their winning entry. Mr. Leroy Owens, Principle of the Bernie Elementary School, as well as DC public school administrators, teachers, parents and Embassy staff attended the event.
