Guest Artist: Shirley Brill - Clarinet The Tel-Aviv Trio was founded under the auspice of The Jerusalem Music Centre in 1998. The trio won First Prize at the Concours International de Musique de Chambre de Haute Alsace and was a prize-winner of the Vittorio Gui International Chamber Music Competition in Florence, the Citt? di Trapani International Chamber Music Competition, the Joseph Joachim and the Erst-Klassik Competitions in Germany. Most recently, it was a prize-winner at the prestigious Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition. The trio is rapidly gaining recognition as one of the most outstanding young chamber music ensembles on the international stage, having performed concerts in Israel's major concert halls as well as in Berlin (Philharmonie), Paris (Auditorium du Louvre), London (Wallace collection), Rome (Art is Life Festival), Madrid (Conde Duque), Copenhagen (Tivoli Concert Hall), and other major concert halls throughout Europe, USA, Southeast-Asia and Australia. In addition, the Tel-Aviv Trio was the first Israeli ensemble to be engaged to perform concerts in Qatar (the Persian Gulf). The Tel-Aviv Trio has appeared in numerous live concert broadcasts on France Musique, Radio Italia, WQXR, ABC, NDR, SWR and Israel's Voice of Music.
Having taken part in the "International Encounters", The Bergen International Festival, Deutsche Grammophone's "Yellow Lounge", The Bangalow Festival and in the International Musicians Seminar (IMS) Prussia Cove, the trio has collaborated with world renowned artists such as Isaac Stern, Leon Fleischer, Hatto Beyerle, Bernard Greenhouse, Steven Isserlis, Miriam Fried, Zvi Meniker and with members of the Emerson and Julliard Quartets. It was engaged to give concerts with world leading violists Tabea Zimmermann, Carla-Maria Rodrigues, Michael Tree (the Guarneri Quartet) and with Clarinettist Philippe Cuper. The trio also recently performed Beethoven's Triple Concerto with the Young Israel Philharmonic Orchestra.
The trio has been recently chosen for the Professional Piano-Trio Program of the New-England Conservatory in Boston.
The Tel-Aviv Trio is a recipient of the America-Israel Cultural Foundation and the Ronen Foundation.
Jonathan Aner- Pianist
Born in Israel in 1978, Jonathan has performed as a soloist with Israel's leading orchestras, including performances with The Israel Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Maestro Zubin Mehta, The Israel Chamber Orchestra, The Israel Camerata Jerusalem and other orchestras under the baton of David Shallon, Pietro Mianiti, Arie Vardi and others. He has won the Citt? di Senigallia International Piano Competition in Italy, as well as the Ben-Haim Competition, The Schubert International Competition and the Julius Katchen Award.
Having taken part in the Mostra Mozart, the Ljubljana and the Bentivoglio Festivals, Jonathan Aner has performed many recitals in Israel and abroad. He is a graduate of the Musikhochschule Hannover where he studied with Prof. Arie Vardi and of the Musikhochschule L?beck as a student of Prof. Konrad Elser. He is currently a student of Prof. Vivian Weilerstein at the New-England Conservatory in Boston.
Matan Givol - Violinist
Born in Israel in 1982, Matan has been awarded the America-Israel Cultural Foundation grants since the age of twelve. He has won the Wieniawski International Competition, the Clairmont Competition, the Israeli Radio Young Artist Competition and the Taschner Prize. He has performed as a soloist with Israel's leading orchestras and has played as a soloist with world-renowned artists Shlomo Mintz, Ida Haendel and Itamar Golan. He has recently recorded a CD with The Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra.
Matan was a student of Nava Milo, Zakhar Bron and Prof. Ilan Gronich in the UDK Berlin. He is currently a student of Prof. Donald Weilerstein at the New-England Conservatory in Boston. He is playing on a J.B.Guadagnini violin, lent to him by the AICF.
Ira Givol - Cellist
Born in Israel in 1979, Ira has performed as a soloist with Israel's leading orchestras including The Israel Symphony Orchestra, The Thelma-Yellin Orchestra and The Israel Conservatory Orchestra. He is a two-time winner of the Ben-Haim Competition, The Israel Conservatory of Music Competition and the Concerto Barocko competition in Germany. Ira Givol was invited to the International Interlochen Festival where he was awarded a special chamber-music prize. In addition, he took part at the Kronberg Cello master-classes and has performed recitals in Taiwan and in Korea. Ira is a member of the contemporary music ensemble Kaprizma with which he has recorded a CD. Ira Givol graduated his studies with Prof. Frans Helmerson at the Musikhochschule K?ln, where he continues his Baroque Cello studies with Prof. Rainer Zipperling. He is currently also a student of Prof. Laurence Lesser at the New-England Conservatory in Boston. He is playing on a Collin Mezin cello, lent to him by the AICF.
