Alex Goldman-Shayman, Deputy Consul General to the Midwest
Mr. Goldman-Shayman assumed the post of Deputy Consul General, at the Consulate General of Israel to the Midwest, in August of 2013. Mr. Goldman-Shayman coordinates and oversees the political and economic work of the Consulate. He works with national, state, and local elected officials. He also works with community and religious leaders, as well as universities and colleges, to create collaborations and increase partnerships and relationships between the Midwest and Israel.
Mr. Goldman-Shayman has worked for Israel's Ministry of Foreign Affairs as a professional diplomat since 2006. Prior to assuming his current position, he served as the Press Attaché at Israel's Embassy in Moscow from 2007-2011. He then served as the Deputy Director of the Euro-Asia 2 Department in Jerusalem from 2011-2013.
Mr. Goldman-Shayman has a Master’s in Political Science from Hebrew University in Jerusalem and a Bachelor‘s Degree in Middle Eastern Studies, Political Science and International Relations from Hebrew University in Jerusalem. Mr. Goldman-Shayman also served as a Technical Officer (Captain) in the Air Defense Unit of the Israel Defense Forces from 1990-1996.
Mr. Goldman-Shayman was born in the USSR and made "Aliya" with his family to Israel in 1979. He is married to Shir, and they have one daughter and two sons. Mr. Goldman-Shayman speaks Hebrew, Russian and English.
