1. Please bring photo identification (Israeli ID, passport).
2. Every visitor and their belongings will be required to undergo a security check.
3. For security purposes, no personal objects will be allowed into the mission, including handbags, mobile phones and electronic devices.
4. Do not bring large handbags or suitcases to the mission.
5. Do not bring food and/or beverage bottles or containers (cold and hot drinks are provided).
6. The mission's security directives apply to people seeking consular assistance. The instructions of the security staff must be obeyed at all times.

In 1978, Israel signed and ratified the Hague Convention Abolishing the Requirement of Legalisation for Foreign Public Documents - 1961 (hereinafter the Hague Convention). The purpose of this Convention was to shorten the processes required for a particular country to recognise the official documents issued by another country, by means of apostille certification.
Public documents and certificates that were issued in one of the countries that are signatories to the above Convention and which bear the apostille stamp are valid for presentation in Israel, without need for additional verification/ certification by the diplomatic/ consular representative at the Israeli mission.
Additionally, for countries that are signatories to the Hague Convention, no additional verification is required by the mission consul of the country for which the document is designated, if it was stamped with an apostille in Israel.

Birth, Marriage, Divorce and Death certificates must be signed by an Apostille Stamp. The stamp can be obtained from the Australian "Department of Foreign Affairs & Trade".

ישראל חתמה ואשררה בשנת 1978 את "אמנת האג" בדבר ביטול דרישת האימות למסמכי חוץ ציבוריים (1961)
מטרת אמנה זו (האג) לקצר ההליכים הנדרשים כדי שתכיר מדינה מסוימת במסמכים רשמיים שהוצאו במדינה אחרת, וזאת באמצעות אישור "אפוסטיל". אוסטרליה חתומה גם היא על האמנה.
יובהר כי מסמכים ותעודות ציבוריות שהוצאו באחת מהמדינות החברות באמנה הנ"ל והוחתמו בה בחותמת אפוסטיל, תקפים לצורך הצגתם בישראל, ללא צורך באימות / אישור נוסף מאת הנציג הדיפלומטי / קונסולרי בנציגות הישראלית.
כמו כן, בעבור מדינות החתומות על אמנת האג, לא יידרש כל אימות נוסף של קונסול נציגות המדינה אליה מיועד המסמך אם הוחתם בישראל בחותמת אפוסטיל.

A child of an Israeli citizen (one or both of the parents) is an Israeli citizen by birth. The child needs to be registered as a citizen, and travel to Israel using an Israeli passport.
In case that the parents are not married (de – facto) or separated / divorced, you’ll need to contact the consular department for instructions.
In order to register your child as a citizen, you need to supply the consular section the following:

Both parent’s passports photocopies (foreign / Israeli) signed by a JP.
The child’s original birth certificate, signed by an Apostille stamp.

It is your responsibility to update the embassy with any changes in your marital status.
In order to do so, you need to supply the consular section with the local marriage/divorce/widow/death certificate, signed by an Apostille stamp. The stamp can be obtained through the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (see details above).
Married or divorced women can change their surname to their husband’s name or to her maiden name accordingly (please see “name change due to marriage” paragraph)

Every Israeli citizen has the right to change his or her names.
There are two different procedures:
Surname change - due to marriage/divorce (see procedure above).
General name change (no special reason):
This change needs to be approved by the Ministry of Interior in Israel.
In case the name change is for a minor (under 18), please contact the embassy.
Please send the following in a registered envelope:
Photocopy of your foreign passport (the details and photo pages, if you have one).
Self addressed registered envelope.
Israeli passport
The fee is $30AUD (online banking transfer/money order)
If you require either certificate to be used outside Israel, you require an Apostille stamp which costs an additional $10AUD
This process may take a month.

Birth, Death and registry summary Certificates can be obtained from Israel through the Embassy.
The applicant should be directly related to the certificate owner (himself, child, spouse or parent).
An official certificate that summarises your current marital status, name and other personal details along with changes occurred in the past can be obtained from Israel through the Embassy. The certificate will carry an official Apostille stamp, so it can be used in Australia, but Hebrew-English translation may be required.
Please send the following in a registered envelope:
Photocopy of your passport (the details and photo pages).
Self addressed registered envelope.
The process is free of charge if you require the document for use in Israel, or $10AUD if you require it for use outside Israel (for non-Israel use, the document will require an Apostille stamp).
This process may take one month.

A fee of AUS$25 applies to this process for use within Israel only. If you require this document for use outside of Israel an Apostille is required, which incurs an additional $10AUD fee.

Adult passports are valid for 10 years from date of issue. A new passport costs 70 Australian Dollars. Passports for minors under the age of 18 are valid for 5 years from date of issue and cost 35 Australian Dollars.

In case that you want to extend a minor’s passport, attach to the application both parent’s passport photocopies signed by a JP and the extension form signed by a JP as well.

LOST / STOLEN / DESTROYED PASSPORT / TRAVELLING DOCUMENT PROCEDURE |
ניפוק תעודת מעבר (לאחר אובדן / השחתה / גניבה)

In order to obtain passport / travelling document you need to call the consular department and notify the embassy and get instructions.
Most likely, you will need to identify yourself in front of representative of the “Aliyah” office or the embassy.
Please bring with you to the “Aliyah” office the following:
Complete New Passport application form
Complete declaration of lost passport form
Registration of Israeli citizen abroad form
registered, self addressed envelope
A copy of your lost passport or all the other Israeli documents you have got for identification (photo ID)
2 passport photos
Police report on Lost/Stolen passports.
After identifying yourself and signing the forms, send to the consular department all of the above via registered mail. The cost is $70 for a passport and $35 for travelling document.
If the passport / travelling document you had was still valid when was stolen / destroyed / lost, there is a fee: $35 for travelling document and $70 for passport.
In this case, it’s the consul’s decision whether to issue the travelling document OR passport.
The procedure might take around 20 days.

לאחר חתימה וזיהוי של שליח העלייה, שלחו במעטפה רשומה את כל הטפסים והפרטים הנ"ל למחלקה הקונסולרית בשגרירות בתוספת 70$ אוסטרלי לדרכון / 35$ אוסטרלי לתעודת מעבר לניפוק תעודה חדשה.
במידה ותעודת המעבר / הדרכון שהיה ברשותכם ואבד / נגנב / הושחת היה בתוקף, יהיה עליכם לשלם קנס בסך 70$ על הדרכון או 35$ על תעודת המעבר. במקרה זה ההחלטה האם להנפיק תעודת מעבר או דרכון הינה לשיקול דעתו של הקונסול.

קבלת פטור / דחייה לבני מהגרים של שירות צבאי אפשרית מגיל 16.5. הבקשות יועברו דרך הנציגות לצבא לשם החלטה על מתן הפטור / דחייה.
מסגרת הזמן עד לקבלת התשובה מהצבא אינה תלויה בשגרירות, לכן חשוב להגיש את הבקשה כמה חודשים לפני מועד הטיסה ע"מ למנוע בעיות מיותרות!

SIGNATURE AND NOTARY AUTHORISATION |

The Consular Section can authenticate signatures on power of attorney, declaration and affidavit matters.
Alternatively it can be done by a local public Notary and an Apostille stamp (except on issue of inheritance, will and bank documents).
In both cases it is your responsibility to supply the documentation (power of attorney, etc...).
The consul will witness and approve your signature according to your passport or ID card only.

המחלקה הקונסולרית יכולה לאמת חתימות על ייפוי כוח, תצהירים, צילומים נאמנים למקור וכדומה.
לחילופין, ניתן לאמת את החתימות בפני נוטריון ציבורי ולאחר מכן להחתים את המסמך בחותמת אפוסטיל של משרד החוץ האוסטרלי ע"מ להגיש את המסמך לארץ (מלבד מסמכי בנק, צוואות וירושות).
בשני המקרים, עליכם האחריות לספק את המסמכים הדרושים.

A person who stayed in Israel for a period of time and is required by the government of another country or a foreign institution to provide certification of the lack of a criminal record / pending criminal case (certificate of good conduct), may submit an application to the Israel Police through the Israeli mission. Under the law, the certificate is not given to the applicant but rather transferred to the official entity that requested it. The certificate is issued by the Israel Police.
The applicant should arrive to the Israeli mission in person and present to the consular section his/her application for a police clearance certificate.

The process is free of charge if you require the document for use in Israel, or $10AUD if you require it for use outside Israel (for non-Israel use, the document will require an Apostille stamp).
In order to receive an Israeli Police Clearance, please allow 12 weeks from the date your application is received.

RENOUNCING ISRAELI CITIZENSHIP |
ויתור אזרחות ישראלית
|
The process of relinquishing citizenship is intended for an Israeli citizen living abroad who wishes to renounce his or her Israeli citizenship for any reason whatsoever. This is implemented by giving a declaration of the desire to renounce the citizenship, along with relevant documents and an application to the Ministry of the Interior for its authorisation.
It is important to note that the decision to authorise a renunciation of citizenship is made at the sole discretion of the Minister of Interior or anyone appointed by him. As long as such authorisation is not given, the person who made the declaration is still an Israeli citizen. Renouncing a citizenship takes a few months. Please be patient. It should be noted that there have been cases in which the minister saw fit, for various reasons, not to authorise a renunciation of citizenship.
A person who wishes to submit an application to renounce Israeli citizenship must appear in person (in case of a minor both parents must appear in person) to the Consular Department. Before applying for renouncing Israeli citizenship, a person must notify the Population Registry of the current personal status and all relatives information associated with this (Any changes in marital status or/and birth of children).

For a minor – fill out the form Declaration of Renunciation of Israeli Citizenship for a Minor
$85 for each application.
If you need this certificate for an official institution, please add another $10 AUS Dollars for the Apostille Stamp.
Parents who renounce their citizenship can include their children on the same form.
Please note that the decision of renunciation of Israeli Citizenship for person between the age of 14 and 26 years old is submitted to the army authorities.
In the declaration section at the bottom of the form - Declaration of Renunciation of Israeli Citizenship - the signatory is obliged, before any use of his Israeli passport, to check with the mission whether his Israeli citizenship has been cancelled.
Renouncing Israeli citizenship is a process that takes up to 6 months. Please be patient!

הליך ויתור על האזרחות ישראלית מיועד לאזרח ישראלי השוהה בחו"ל ומבקש לוותר על אזרחותו מכל סיבה שהיא. התהליך מתבצע על-ידי מילוי טופס הצהרה על הרצון לוותר על האזרחות בצירוף מסמכים רלוונטיים ובקשה למשרד הפנים להעניק את הסכמתו לכך.
חשוב לציין, כי ההחלטה אם לאשר ויתור על אזרחות נתונה בלעדית בידי שר הפנים או מי שהוסמך על ידו וכל עוד לא ניתנה הסכמה זו, נותר מוסר ההצהרה אזרח ישראלי. יש לקחת בחשבון שקיימים מקרים בהם מוצא השר לנכון, מסיבות שונות, שלא לאשר את הוויתור על האזרחות.
הגשת בקשה לויתור על אזרחות ישראלית חייבת בנוכחות אישית בהתייצבות אישית (במקרה ומדובר בקטין, נוכחות שני ההורים הינה חובה) במחלקה הקונסולרית בנציגות ע"מ לעבור ראיון מול הקונסול.
ע"מ להגיש בקשה לויתור אזרחות ישראלית, עליכם לסגור מעגל חיים במרשמי משרד הפנים ולוודא שפרטיכם האישיים מעודכנים למצבכם הנוכחי (מצב אישי / שם / ילדים וכדומה).

לקטין – מילוי טופס "הצהרת ויתור על אזרחות ישראלית לקטין חשוב להגיע עם טופס מלא בכל הפרטים הנדרשים.
85$ אוסטרלי עבור כל בקשה דולרים אוסטרלים.
אם תזדקקו להציג תעודה זו בפני מוסדות רשמיים מלבד ישראל עליכם להוסיף 10$ אוסטרלי נוספים עבור חותמת אפוסטיל. ניתן לשלם במזומן / כרטיס אשראי.
הורה יכול לכלול בבקשתו את ילדיו הקטינים.
לידיעתכם, ויתור אזרחות בין הגילאים 14 עד 26 נתון להחלטת משרד הפנים ומנהל גיוס.
במידה ויש התנגדות מנהל גיוס לויתור האזרחות יוכל האזרח לפנות שוב בבקשה לויתור אזרחות בהגיעו לגיל שיצוין בהחלטת משרד הפנים ומנהל גיוס.
בסעיף ההצהרה, בתחתית הטופס "הצהרת ויתור על אזרחות ישראלית" בה מתחייב החותם לפני כל שימוש בדרכונו הישראלי לבדוק מול הנציגות אם אזרחותו טרם בוטלה.
