Nadav Tamir

Nadav Tamir is Consul General
of Israel to New England.
Consul
General Nadav Tamir was born and raised in Kibbutz Manara in northern
Israel. He began his career of public service in 1980 in the IDF, where
he eventually served as a company commander and retired with the rank of
Major.
Following
his military service, Consul General Tamir served as a security officer
at the Residence of the President of Israel, while simultaneously
earning his B.A. in Philosophy and Political Science from the Hebrew
University of Jerusalem, from which he graduated Magna Cum Laude.
Consul General Tamir
joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1993 and the following year
began to serve as the Policy Assistant to the Foreign Minister, for whom
he developed recommendations and policy programs and followed up with
the execution of ministerial directives and initiatives. Consul General
Tamir was fortunate to serve under Foreign Ministers Shimon Peres, Ehud
Barak, and David Levy. In 1997, he was promoted to the position of
Political Officer at the Embassy of Israel in Washington, D.C., where he
worked closely with the State Department and the National Security
Council. Finally in 2001, he was granted the position of Advisor to the
Director General at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Jerusalem, where
he currently works, specializing in Israeli-U.S. relations and the
promotion and development of institutional reform.
In 2004,
Consul General Tamir earned his Masters in Public Administration from
the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
