Alon Ushpiz – Minister of Congressional Affairs

 

Alon Ushpiz, the current Minister of Congressional Affairs at the Embassy of Israel, took up his post in August 2003.

In 1992, Alon Ushpiz joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He served as Second, then First Secretary at the Embassy of Israel in Tokyo, between 1995-1999.

In 1999, he served as Policy Advisor to Foreign Ministers: David Levy, Shlomo Ben-Ami, Shimon Peres, Benjamin Netanyahu and Silvan Shalom. During this period, he was involved in multiple tracks of peace negotiations with the Palestinian Authority, including the Bowling and Taba talks.

Alon Ushpiz received a BA in Japanese Studies and International Relations from Hebrew University and studied Japanese Foreign policy and politics at the University of Tokyo.

Alon Ushpiz is married to Inbar and they have two children, Ophir and Yotam.
