It has been said that the Palestinians never miss an opportunity
to miss an opportunity. But this time, things may be different.
Late Sunday night, Prime Minister Ariel Sharon said, "We
have a window of opportunity, after the death of Arafat and the
re-election of President Bush, to break the stalemate of negotiation
and replace it with a strategy of reconciliation." In his
interview with William Safire, Prime Minister Sharon expressed
a willingness to work towards this glimmer of hope.
