Embassy of Israel Briefing
February 25, 2003
Dear Friend,
It has become a tradition over the last 20
years for the Conference of Presidents of Major Jewish
Organizations to hold their annual meeting in Jerusalem and meet
with heads of state.
Part of this tradition is the Prime Minister`s address to
the group, which serves as an overview of the state of Jewish
affairs.
This year, Prime Minister Sharon stressed the
significance of Jewish continuity, aliyah, and development of the
Negev and Jerusalem.
The Prime Minister also discussed the importance of Israel advocacy on
college campuses and within local communities across the United
States.
Prime Minister Sharon specially mentioned
Israel`s upcoming 55th birthday and encouraged
individuals to participate in the Yom Ha`atzmaut celebration on
Monday, May 19th at the MCI Center in Washington DC.
